Sea turtles hatching behind the us, we drove to the far side of the island away from the town; past the late night checkpoints where the roads were close and our hotel needed a generator for electricity. Here is the night sky as seen from the small Island of Cozumel, Mexico.

Unwavering, early explorers would use this star to navigate the oceans and land. A single, 38 minute exposure shows star trails across the sky and the white cloud that is our own Milky Way galaxy.
